  • Whilst there are many good materials to consider in building your deck, the most cost effective timber solution is softwood such as pine and cypress, which can be used as long as it is properly treated to resist and withstand all climatic conditions.

However, hardwood is the most highly recommended choice for decking timber. It is more expensive than softwood but it is more durable, has a longer life span and has a natural resistance to insects. Some popular hardwood choices for decking are Jarrah and Merbau, but remember that to better protect your hardwood decks you should do regular maintenance by using a timber finish like decking oil and timber stain.

Decking timber can be 19mm, 20mm, 22mm or 23mm wide but comes in numerous lengths depending on the species chosen. So whether you are building a deck for an outdoor entertainment area, pergola, pool/spa surroundings or porch, Epping Timber have the right material for you.
